Abstract
Kata Kunci : Nyeri Post Operasi, Realitas Virtual, Usia Prasekolah ABSTRACT Children aged 3-6 years begin to develop independence and social skills. However, frightening medical experiences, such as surgery, can cause trauma that impacts their psychological and emotional well-being, one of which is the pain response, often leading to fear and anxiety that worsens postoperative pain which impacts the work of nurses. This study aims to analyze the effect of virtual reality intervention on reducing pain in preschool-age postoperative children at Muhammad Sani Hospital. Methods This study used a pre-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach without a control group. The sample consisted of 20 respondents selected through purposive sampling method, selected based on certain criteria relevant to the research objectives. Data were analyzed using paired T-test to measure differences in pain levels before and after the intervention. The results showed that the use of virtual reality had a significant effect in reducing pain in postoperative preschool children, with a p value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). In conclusion, virtual reality is effective as a non-pharmacological method in reducing pain in postoperative preschool children, while increasing the effectiveness of pharmacological methods used. In addition to reducing pain, virtual reality also has a positive impact on children's emotional responses, which become more cheerful, excited, and energetic, as well as reducing fear and anxiety, thus increasing positive engagement in the recovery process.
